Catbite are ska champions and beyond. Combining the jumping energy of UK two-tone with the high-power attack of third wave ska, while shining light on their inspiration of old school punk rock and powerpop, the Philly band has been rapidly expanding their fan base and serving as standard bearers for the 2020’s ska revival. Their career kicked off with a debut album that hit the ska and punk community hard. It made a lot of “ska haters” reconsider their views. They followed up the self-titled record by completely redoing the album in an alt-country style (Catlite) and then again in a hardcore punk style (Catfite) all before releasing their second, and most recent album, Nice One (released by neo-ska icons Bad Time Records) was massively well received, having gained praise from Anthony Fantano, Stereogum, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, Brooklyn Vegan, Punknews… and even M&Ms! On the record, the band injected a bright pop punch to the traditional bounciness of ska and cut an LP that while VERY danceable, addressed some heavy topics like how social media can distort one’s perception of reality, depression, suicide, and breaking free of toxic relationships… but they also have a song about being horny. They also have a cover of Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.” It’s frikkin’ rad. Catbite just released a collab-single with Brian Fallon of Gaslight Anthem and are working on their anticipated third album. Catbite has headlined their own tours at home and abroad (Japan, Australia, UK), Some notable bands they have toured with include Streetlight Manifesto, The Gaslight Anthem, Jeff Rosenstock, Bouncing Souls, Nofx, Circle Jerks, Screaming Females, The Suicide Machines and more. They are always on tour.
